In a deep, conversational interview with Caitlyn Sheff, she say seliminating social media has changed her life for the better
Caiti Sheff is a yoga teacher and studio owner who embodies what it means to live Untamed. During our conversation in her photoshoot, she opened up about why her studio is so important to her and her intention behind it. From her decision to step away from social media to her vision for a space that welcomes everyone exactly as they are, Caiti reminds us that being Untamed isn’t just about breaking free—it’s about coming home to yourself, and creating spaces where others can do the same.
Being Untamed
Jade- So what makes you feel Untamed?
Caiti- That’s such a good question. I think feeling untamed to me is about the openness to possibility. So I think it’s the natural, unlimited, and unfiltered ways you can take your life and ways you can take yourself. So, being Untamed to me is being very open to anything.
For Caiti, being untamed isn’t about doing the most. It’s about staying open to change, to growth, to whatever life is asking you to step into next.
Caiti On Integrity
Jade- So, going through that, what’s the life motto that you live by?
Caiti- That’s a good one. For a life motto: authenticity and integrity over everything.
Caiti believes integrity means being open to growth. At no point should you stop growing and learning. You should desire to discover more, and that is what having integrity is about.
Kat- What does integrity mean to you?
Caiti- Integrity is so many things, but I think it’s standing ten toes down on what you believe in, and at the same time also being open to knowing that you don’t know everything, and being open to other people teaching you. And open to what other people have to say and what other people do know. There’s a mixture to it.
Kat- Do you know what the root word of integrity is? “Integer”, which means whole. So, in order to show integrity, you have to have wholeness in and of yourself.
Caiti- I love that. Wholeness is not ‘you know everything, you’re done growing, you’re fully evolved’ by no means at all. I don’t know if there’s wholeness, right? There’s always an evolution that’s going to come next.
Caiti Leaves Social Media
Jade- What’s your Instagram?
Caiti- I’m not on Instagram! I know, since September of last year (2024).... last year on social media, I was fucking angry all the time. So Instagram went in September, and TikTok went maybe a month after that. I was like, ‘I can’t do it anymore.’ I was too angry.
Jade- How has your life changed since you’ve been off Instagram and TikTok?
Caiti- That’s a very good question because, being off social media in general, TikTok and Instagram, I do feel like I am much more present with how I feel because I am, like most of us, heavily influenced by all the things I see and hear.
So I was holding a lot of emotions...for other people. Not bad, but I was holding it for people I didn’t know. So I didn’t have the capacity to hold it for people I did know and did care about. Now I feel like I’m much more present with how I feel, and I’m much more present for people who are actually in the room with me and able to show up for them in a more deeper way.
As humans, we are not weren’t built to process all the information we see every day on social media at once. This is why Caiti got off social media. Her business is still on Instagram, however, @thecoterie.studio.
The Coterie- Caiti’s Yoga Studio And What It Means To Her
Sheridan- I think you're passionate about your work. I think when you’re truly passionate about your business, you’re probably starting it because it's your own work.
Caiti- Absolutely. I’m a caregiver naturally, I like taking care of people, I like making sure everybody feels comfortable and okay to have releases and to be excited. There’s something beautiful about a third space community that has been missing for a long time. I think that’s where a lot of it came from, like what if the lobby was never empty? What if every teacher were capable? What if everybody felt they could go sit their mat down and immediately talk to the person next to them? Because that shit does not exist all the time. So it's like okay, how do we foster this idea of no one’s a stranger and we’re all here for the same reasons?
Caiti built The Coterie to be inclusive. If there is something that you need but is not at her studio, she wants people to tell her, and maybe they can make that something happen. She wants everyone to feel welcome and at home in her studio.
Having this conversation with Caiti was fruitful and meaningful. Caiti’s work is more than a practice—it’s a reflection of her own values, energy, and care. She is a living reminder that you don’t have to be loud to be powerful. You just have to be present. Untamed, in every sense of the word.
